Couples initiating a new life together without the proper quantity of money to purchase their place would generally opt for leasing.
Outer Northern suburbs stand out as the cheapest places for renting in Brisbane if you are a couple. The weekly average price is in this region is $265.
The numbers take into consideration 1-bedroom flat and unit based on June Quarter 2020. The data was compiled by the Residential Tenancies Authority (RTA).
Banyo, Nudgee and Virginia areas have an average price of $ 225 per week. Right after are Bracken Ridge, Brighton, Deagon and Sandgate whose weekly average rental price is $245.
Rent in the suburbs such as Fitzgibbon and Taigum ($255), and Aspley, Boondal, Geebung and Zillmere ($270) is also attractive in these neighbourhoods.
Heading down to the Outer South, tenants will find reasonable prices in Archerfield and Coopers Plains where the weekly rent is $255. For $265, couples will still find apartments in Brisbane Market and Rocklea.
In the Inner North West, Ashgrove, Dorrington and St Johns Wood have options for $250 a week. For only $15 more, it is possible to rent in Bardon, Jubilee or Rainworth.
Brookside, Everton Park, McDowall and Stafford, Outer North West suburbs have flats and unit available for $260 the rent.
Clayfield and Hendra are the only areas in the Inner North whose price is under $270.
Before renting, tenants should make sure a property matches their lifestyle and needs before signing a tenancy agreement, recommends RTA.
Suppose the tenant is asked to pay a key deposit to inspect a rental property. In that case, the owner must provide a receipt for the deposit which must be fully refunded when the key is returned.
RTA also highlights that the Queensland Government introduced new laws for tenants and property owners affected by COVID-19 on 24 April 2020. The temporary changes are effective during the COVID-19 emergency, which lasts until 31 December 2020.
