A huge opportunity for employment and career advice will happen on March 18 at the Beaudesert Showgrounds.

Exhibitors are advertising over 20 jobs, and many more employers are looking for Queenslanders to build better work connections and industry skills, including tourism, transport, construction and many more.

The ‘World of Work’ Scenic Rim Careers Expo is a joint collaboration between Scenic Rim Regional Council and the Regional Skills Investment Strategy – a project aimed directly at enriching the broader community with employment opportunities and skills for so many industries.

Scenic Rim Mayor, Greg Christensen, said the World of Work expo builds on the successful Scenic Rim Jobs and Skills Festival, which was last held in November 2019.

“We’ve already got 25 exhibitors lined up from various industries including healthcare, defence, hospitality, tourism, turf, transport, and construction – so there’s something for everyone,” Mayor Christensen said.

“There’s a great range of businesses within the Scenic Rim, and attendees will be able to meet with local employers and understand more about what they do and what type of jobs are available now or in the future.”

One of the largest employers of workers, Cedar Creek Lodges from Mount Tamborine, are one of the many exhibitioners looking to connect with prospective employees at the World at Work expo.

General Manager of Cedar Creek Lodges, Tamara Grey, said that while the business is trying to thrive in a COVID-19 economy, one of the biggest challenges has been finding staff.

“We currently have a team of 78 and are looking forward to attending the World of Work Expo, where we hope to find 20 new recruits with appropriate skillsets, or the willingness to learn,” Ms Grey said.

“The main objective of the World of Work expo is to make connections, and hopefully, it will help boost employment outcomes in our beautiful region,” Ms Grey said.

As a community member, there will be a breakfast table, employment bulletin boards, and guest speakers discussing what it takes to launch an independent business.

The ‘World of Work’ Expo will commence at 10 am and conclude formal speeches and information booths at 2:30 pm.
